The client's infrastructure supports environments where downtime or compromise can have serious operational consequences. They needed an external security team that could thoroughly assess the exposed environment and provide documentation suitable for client assurance.
Qualysec's experience securing network infrastructure across different industries gave the client confidence in the assessment.
The client needed formal documentation that could serve as evidence of independent security testing.
The client wanted remediation to be independently verified before presenting the final assessment to its customer.
Findings were documented in an actionable format suitable for a small internal team.
The assessment provided an independent review of the externally exposed infrastructure and a verified remediation path that the client could confidently present to the customer who requested the VAPT report.

The web-based management interface exposed on the external network allows an attacker to inject a malicious script that gets saved and executed whenever an administrator loads the affected page. On infrastructure managing power and environmental monitoring for critical facilities, this gives an attacker a route into an administrator's session without needing valid credentials.
Potential impact: Unauthorized session hijacking and administrator access to critical infrastructure.
The externally reachable management portal was still using default or easily guessable login credentials, giving anyone who found the interface a straightforward way in.
Potential impact: Unauthorized administrative access and full control of network devices.
The network devices were running firmware versions with publicly documented security issues, the kind of gap that's easy for an attacker to exploit once identified.
Potential impact: System compromise and exploitation of publicly documented security gaps.
The encryption settings on the externally facing connection were outdated, leaving communication with the management interface more exposed to interception than current standards allow.
Potential impact: Interception of sensitive data and communication traffic.
The login portal accepted unlimited failed attempts without locking the account or slowing requests down, leaving it open to brute-force attempts from anywhere on the internet.
Potential impact: Unauthorized access via automated brute-force credential attacks.
Weak controls across the externally exposed management environment could have created opportunities for unauthorized access to systems responsible for monitoring power and environmental conditions at data centers, hospitals, and industrial sites.
All findings were documented, categorized by severity, and handed over with a clear remediation plan. Qualysec worked with the client's team through the fix process rather than stopping at the report.
The team examined the underlying causes of the management interface exposure and reviewed how authentication, firmware, and network configuration contributed to the overall risk.
Qualysec worked with the client to improve input handling, replace default credentials, and update affected devices to current firmware versions.
SSL/TLS settings were brought up to current standards and account lockout was implemented on the external login portal.
The externally exposed network infrastructure was reassessed after remediation to verify the implemented changes and confirm that no additional issues had surfaced.
Management Interface Secured
The remotely accessible administration environment was brought under tighter security controls.
Device Credentials Updated
Default credentials were replaced across affected devices.
Network Configuration Hardened
External encryption and login protections were strengthened.
Client Assurance Supported
Independent testing and remediation evidence were prepared for the customer who requested the assessment.
